The one-year-old Vancouver-based online record shop and recent imprint, Pacific Rhythm, is opening a physical location, shared with the Chinatown purveyors of all things corner store and more, Snack City. The launch party is set to be held on February 8th; drinks will be served and records will be spun by Jack J and Liam Butler of Pender Street Steppers, as well as Neo Image, and Hashman Deejay.

A nice all-season style from Acne, the Shay Jacket is made from a blend of felted wool and cashmere. The soft, navy blue fabric and cut of the shoulder are the highlights, and while I could personally do without the taper towards the waist, it's a very wearable piece that's reminiscent of something Raf would have done at Jil Sander.

Adidas Originals x Spezial, a capsule collection of clothing and footwear by Gary Aspden with a particular focus on the German brand's rich history in leisurewear, was launched last season. The Spring-Summer '15 offering will be available at the end of this month, but many of the new pieces can be seen in a film by Nick Griffiths and &SON Films, released yesterday via SHOWstudio. The design world is abuzz regarding Artek’s latest furniture collection, which debuted at the 2015 Stockholm Furniture Fair. Conceived by French design duo, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, it features rectangular and round tables in two sizes, a desk, a wall console, a small round shelf and a selection of large wall-mounted shelving units, all of which utilize wooden and steel components. The press release details the marrying of these two elements best: "The principle is extremely simple: the vertical load is supported by a wooden part and a bent steel band embraces the contours of this solid wooden piece. The steel band draws a kind of wing bracket-angle that supports the ensemble and creates a linear and rhythmic silhouette."

This month Converse are launching an updated and upgraded version of the Jack Purcell. The simple sneaker has long been an iconic style, but this premium edition, which – to name a handful of the 18 new features and benefits – includes a two-ply duck canvas upper and an Ortholite insole embedded with Nike Zoom Air Technology, is a welcome addition to the brand's offering that is likely to be a huge success.

Review: Phill Niblock – Nothin To Look At Just A Record

Phill Niblock has long been one of the central protagonists of the NYC loft scene, holding concerts through his Experimental Intermedia label since 1968 and producing some of the richest and most splendid, long-form drone music in the nascent genre’s history. His first album, Nothin To Look At Just A Record, sources its sounds from recording continuous tones, in this case trombones, which are then densely layered. The product announces an idiosyncratic approach to creating music that would continue throughout his multi-decade career. Superior Viaduct's 2013 rerelease of his 1982 debut is sold out at the source, but copies can still be found of this great, early record from a real legend in the underground music world.

Victory Sportswear for Nepenthes New York Trail Runners

Nepenthes have unearthed another East Coast gem in the form of Victory Sportswear. The brand used to make bespoke footwear for marathon runners at their Massachusetts-based factory in the '80s. After a period of hibernation, it was reintroduced in 2013 and they have now produced a limited range of hand lasted trainers for Nepenthes New York.

Architectural photographer Florian Holzherr is based in Munich but has done much of his work in the US for Donald Judd and James Turrell. Freunde von Freunden take us inside his garden studio, designed by architect Andreas Meck; the 44-year-old's minimal workspace is filled with natural light and USM furniture, both more than welcome in any studio.
