The Classic Shirt by Engineered Garments is a personal favourite of mine: there's just something about it's boxy, slightly awkward cut that I like, and the collar and pocket details are both pleasantly refreshing. Although I'm not a big plaid wearer this version is certainly appealing, and a nice hand-me-down gift that was recently bestowed upon me, has reminded me that a good plaid does indeed go a long way.

The subject of Issue 05's Recollections is Koji Kusakabe, the owner of Extra in New York. This summer Jody Rogac and I visited him at his home, heard all about his experiences as a vintage buyer in the US and saw for ourselves some of the amazing items he's amassed over the years. Recollections is a relatively new addition to the magazine, but has quickly become one my favourite sections, especially to put together.

Sophnet have made some great mid-layer vests this fall. Besides the printed Nordic vest which I actually quite like, the plain navy or camo are probably easier to wear. The thin feel and light weight made it ideal to fit under a jacket.

Focused but extremely varied, the majority of January's Huge is dedicated to flowers. I had a flick through it before leaving Tokyo and it's one the best issues of any magazine I've seen in a while. Looking forward to our copies arriving this week.

Among December's releases from Workers is this USN Jumper in lightweight herringbone cotton. I really like khaki coloured jackets, but find it a bit hard to find one I really want. This piece is great for layering, the shape and referenced design is well done and as with everything from Workers, there will never be a ton in circulation as they are made to order.

Quality down jackets made just across the border in Seattle. The pop of color, pack-ability and classic design make these jackets a nice alternative to Patagonia if you're looking for something locally made.

Freunde von Freunden, friends of friends translated, is one of those websites you've seen a lot of images from, but more likely on a variety of other blogs and tumblrs. The German website has been doing some nice interviews, accompanied by great photos of their subject's apartments, studios and shops for the past couple of years. More recently, FvF have published a book and taken a trip to New York, so it should be interesting to see which friends they linked up with on their excursion to America.
