The trading post opens on October 14th, and looks well worth a visit should you live, or find yourself, in that part of the world.

If you want a traditional brogue these probably aren't for you. If, on the other hand, you want something a little more unusual, they might be worth tracking down. More and more brands are collaborating with classic shoemakers, but few are producing anything genuinely unique. Nepenthes, however, are one of the exceptions and this is always evident in their work with Tricker's. Asymmetric toe pieces may seem like an odd twist, but they give the shoe a subtle character, and combined with a suede upper, it's one I'm definitely a fan of.

There are a few Japanese webshops out there that really do a great job presenting new product - Second Stage is one of them. This fall they were able to inject a fair bit of color into the fall season, with some nice styling, comfy layering and good use of the Engineered Garments fatigue pants. Although the cords might be tough to pull off in real life, these images definitely make them a little bit appealing.

New York Made Us This Way

If they mean: cash strapped, highly strung, and homesick; then yes, New York certainly did. Meant as an ode to the city, and the people that inhabit it (some of whom are partial to a good outfit or two), New York Made Us This Way is an exhibition of works by Jake Davis cultivated from his Test Shot project, and currently on display at Nepenthes New York. To celebrate the event, which also coincides with the store's first anniversary, Nepenthes have released a rather interesting take on a traditional white pocket t-shirt. A familiar font adorns the center, giving the pocket an unusual looking placement; one that's perhaps more washing and camera trickery than design. The back features a montage of screen shots from various Test Shots Jake has produced over the last couple of years, which has been printed on the interior of the shirt rather than on outside of the fabric. Years ago I once saw a similar design on a Bjork t-shirt at Magma in London; I thought it looked good then, and still think it looks good now.

I picked up one of these before leaving New York on Monday, have been burning it ever since, and would highly recommend it. The Wild Orchid scented candles are produced in collaboration with Land by Land, come in two sizes, and are available exclusively at Nepenthes stores.
