Haven have just received a large shipment from the Tokyo-based brand RetaW. Among the beautifully designed products, which also happen to be quite useful, are a pair of candles named J.J. and Allen. With an estimated burning time of 46 hours, they are made from a gel which is meant to mimic the appearance of water, creating a unique look compared to wax.

This winter Canadian-based retailer Haven launched their own in-house brand under the name Cypress. The inaugural collection is concise but cohesive, featuring a handful of basic cotton layers, overshirts, knitwear, chinos and a selection of accessories. The first season's offering also includes two collaborations with respected footwear brands, Viberg and Russell Moccasin.

The increased availability of Sasquatchfabrix. outside of Japan has been a welcome feature of the brand's evolution. Their mix of playful design touches and luxurious fabrics make it an interesting addition to the western market. There are a variety of standout pieces in this season's offering of clothing, footwear and accessories, but this black mohair cardigan is one of the most refined.

We are hosting our final two Issue 11 launch events later this week, with parties at ADR Gallery in Vancouver on Thursday and Haven in Toronto on Friday. As part of the former we are exhibiting a series of repurposed items by Shin Murayama alongside a new video piece by Oliver Payne, while the latter will include catering courtesy of Imanishi Japanese Kitchen and music by Jaime Sin.
