While copies have now started to show up at retailers, on newsstands and in our own stores, Issue 11 of Inventory officially launches in North America this week. After holding a reception at Visvim in Tokyo on Friday night, we're hosting two more events in the next couple of days: one in Los Angeles at the downtown location of the Ace Hotel, and the other at our New York store the following evening. Drinks and music will be offered at both, and we hope you're able to stop by if you happen to be in either city on either day. It just got cold. Proper winter cold. It's been a surprisingly mild fall so far, but it seems like we just turned right into the forthcoming polar vortex this week. Weather-related hyperbole and panic aside, it's about this time of year you'll be wanting to make sure you're wrapped up. These two options, from Present's Stone Island offering for the season, provide warmth in abundance. Either by the use of goose down, or a unique three-layer system: "a highly durable performance cotton and a light cotton poplin that has then been bonded to a technical membrane." Long or short, blue or, er, blue – both are great options for the weeks, season and years ahead.

Early next year Sols will be adding a monochrome model to their lineup of high-quality chukkas. There are lots of small Japanese companies producing classic American sneakers these days but, in my opinion, the Kurume-based brand not only focus on one of the most appealing silhouettes, they also offer some of the best canvas footwear this side of US-made originals.

Gary Simmons continues his conceptual legacy with his new show at Chelsea powerhouse Metro Pictures. While it might lack the overt punch of last year's show at this location, it will still be a serious treat for his long-term fans. It builds upon a lot of his familiar themes, most notably boxing, which he uses as a tool to examine the often repulsive state of race relations in early 1900s America.
