Post O'alls is responsible for some of the best looking vests on the market. They offer a variety of pocket details, collar cuts and fabrics, but the Royal Traveler is definitely my favorite. I'm a bit of a sucker for keeping things simple so these olive and grey twill versions are perfect. Both are very wearable, but the olive would my be pick.

Most of my jackets are fairly light weight and it's getting a bit too cold now to wear them over just a shirt. It's not quite cold enough for a sweater yet though, and to be honest I'm a bit bored with most of mine. This simple, classic over shirt from Woolrich Woolen Mills fills a void for me as it makes for an easy middle layer. As with most W.W.M., for me it's about the fabric, primarily the colour. From a bit of a distance it's a great Prussian blue, then up close you get that nice bit of pattern with the herringbone weave. The straightforward style of the shirt with the flap pockets can't be argued with either — it's just an all around great staple.

Elephant Brand

Kazuhiro Hirata spent ten years bringing together an assortment of bandanas he wanted to wear. While in the beginning the Kapital frontman wasn't necessarily collecting them per se, a decade later and he had an impressive collection. After he'd amassed hundreds of them, mostly fast color ones, he catalogued them into this book Elephant Brand, which I finally managed to track down recently. The book gives a brief history of the cloth from all the way back in the 1600s and the Hindi origin of the word, through the American Gold Rush era up until it's prominence in Work and Western brands of the '40s and '50s. It's pretty much all in Japanese, with the exception of the amazing names Hirata has given each of his bandanas. Despite that though, the book is a fantastic visual reference of some amazing patterns and designs. It's an excellent addition for any coffee table.

Warehouse x Crescent Down Works

Warehouse have recently updated their website with a few of their fall collaborations. They've put together a range products with Seattle-based Crescent Down Works, including a variety of great looking down vests. Most companies just pick from Crescent Down Works' stock fabrics but Warehouse has gone well beyond that and supplied a nice, very autumnal corduroy in a selection of colors. The tan is my favorite but it also comes in olive and brown.

How much does our space actually affect the work we produce? I know that I definitely always want to be in a great space, a big space, and I suppose it does play a role in my daily mood. When it comes down to getting the work done though, does it really affect the quality? I've been hunting for an apartment, and even with the shop space, it feels like there are some things we could do to spruce it up. So I wonder if it's a matter of never quite being happy, or is there a perfect environment to churn out the best work ever? I feel I've probably done some of my best work in some pretty average conditions; could it be better if I had more space and more natural light? Or is that money better spent elsewhere?

It seems like a few UK retailers have picked up RRL in the last season or two - which is good news. It's one of the more rare menswear brands and you have to dig a little to find it because it isn't that widely available. In light of that, it's interesting to see a few shops putting images online. I can't imagine it will hurt the brand in the long run, and it's nice to see a little more of the product if you don't live in one of the few cities where it's available.

I can't believe this sweater hasn't sold out everywhere. I suppose it's not the cheapest on the market, but it's surely one of the best this fall. It's made with a beautiful navy merino wool and the neck is cut just right - an absolute nautical classic.
"Fairly fitted and extremely soft, Nigel Cabourn's Submarine knit is a new style for this season featuring a small chest pocket and hidden pouch pocket across the front. The tubular neck is cut in classic Guernsey style and the cuffs and hem are ribbed to keep the cold at bay."
