Idea Books and Gosha Rubchinskiy first partnered in 2014 when they published Crimea / Kids to coincide with a talk and film screening at the ICA in London. This fall, the two have come together for a third time to publish Rubchinskiy's latest work, Youth Hotel, a 118-page softcover monograph presenting the photographer's perspective on the cultural climate in Russia today. The publication will be exclusively released through Idea Books and Dover Street Market, with a signing at the London location on October 15th.

Aesop's stores are highly regarded around the world, and with a handful of new locations popping up recently, the interiors are always intriguing to see. They usually embrace a different design for each space, developing a new concept and combining elements that tie into the product offering, but also allow the architects the freedom to incorporate their own vision and inspiration from the location itself. The brand's new website, Taxonomy of Design, explores some of the flagship stores, their designers and the materials used throughout the spaces, offering a new level of insight into their unique approach to retail.

Undercover Long Coat

Hand graphics are some of the prominent imagery tying together Undercover's FW15 collection and there are a selection of classic coats featuring this illustrative embellishment. Anyone familiar with either version of the film Nosferatu, can surely draw a parallel between the hand’s rendering and those belonging to the film’s title character. By virtue of the graphic’s unique placement, it makes for an eccentric but still understated element. The external windowed pocket, fleece-like fabric and magnetized closure round out the modern details on this stylish long coat.

Richard Serra Ramble Drawings

The Gagosian has presented more than 25 major exhibitions by the artist Richard Serra since 1983, and the gallery recently opened a show in New York focused on his Ramble Drawings. Perhaps most well-known for his large-scale sculptures, these works on paper represent another side of the artist’s oeuvre. Featuring hand-applied fields of black litho crayon, they have a quality not entirely dissimilar from examining one of his CorTen steel pieces up close.

While I’m always appreciative of the outstanding details on Junya Watanabe pieces, sometimes it's the items exercising restraint that bowl me over the most. That’s how this warm winter cardigan struck me on first sight. The elbow patches and pockets are in keeping with the line’s usual flourishes, but rendering them in black against a dark knitted body results in something altogether more wearable.

A little later in the season than most, Cav Empt have just released their Fall-Winter '15 lookbook. The imagery is quite pared down in terms of production, but the single location and dark mood combine perfectly to highlight the brand's latest offering against a recessed brick backdrop.

Russell Moccasin Sporting Clays Chukka

With the exception of one or two stores, Russell Moccasin fans have a hard time finding shops in North America offering collaborative styles produced with the Wisconsin bookmaker. Working with the company for the first time this season, Blue Button Shop have now made that a little easier. The Toronto-based retailer is offering three of the brand’s iconic models in a handful of interesting leathers, one of which is a personal favourite of mine: the Sporting Clays Chukka.
