Nigel Cabourn's Submarine sweater is one of the best staples of his Fall-Winter collections. Made in Scotland from a nicely weighted Merino wool, this year's version comes in this very wearable tan colour.

Takahiro Miyashita The Soloist Crusher Hats

Words

There are some great classic hat makers from England, and some more progressive modern designers, but it can be difficult to find something good in between. These wool Crusher hats by The SoloIst land at just about the right spot for me, and they're surprisingly affordable for the hard to find Japanese label.

ts(s) Fall-Winter Vests

01. 100% Wool.
02. Quilted construction.

Words

It's not quite cold enough for a quilted or wool mid-layer, but these two pieces from the Fall-Winter '13 ts(s) collection would be great in a month or two. Each one offers a slightly different aesthetic, while performing the same vital role in the cooler months ahead.

John Smedley is a brand we've admired for a long time, and having featured the company in our third issue, we've been fortunate to have a look behind the scenes at what goes into their knitwear. This fall we've added a selection of their 24 gauge Merino wool pieces to our offering in the form of the Cowley crewneck and Cavendish cardigan, alongside some of the brand's classic ribbed socks.

Yesterday marked the release of Engineered Garments' collaboration with Vault by Vans. The New York based brand made two different models, the OG Authentic LX and the OG Slip-On LX, each taking on their own aesthetic. The capsule collection is likely to sell quickly, as the shoes are well-priced, very wearable and represent the first collaboration between the two brands.

Words

Some of the best items are those that have been tried and tested in real world applications for decades. The Stockholm Raincoat by Swedish makers Stutterheim is just that, a version of a rubberized cotton rain coat that has been used by fishermen for years, that really works without any needless embellishments. This coat is waterproof with welded seams and an updated cut to bring this classic garment into the modern era.

Words

Last week founder and designer Hiroki Nakamura brought his Visvim and WMV lines to New York, to present his latest offering for Spring-Summer '14, at Industria Studios, in the West Village. The light-filled space offered a first chance to see clothing, accessories and footwear from the highly desirable and influential Japanese brand, and while the offering focused more heavily on the women's WMV line, there was still plenty to see, touch and try on.
