There are some great classic hat makers from England, and some more progressive modern designers, but it can be difficult to find something good in between. These wool Crusher hats by The SoloIst land at just about the right spot for me, and they're surprisingly affordable for the hard to find Japanese label.

Absolutely love this hat, though it's hard to find stateside. One brand that's affordable for high quality, heavy wool material that's similar to these is Mercer and James. They have men's shaving and grooming stuff, but also a collection of hats: http://mercerandjames.com/collections/mens-hats

I have both the trilby and the pork pie, and they're great go-to pieces.
