This newly designed style based on Red Wing's ever-popular Postman Oxford has just been released at a handful of retailers. Favoured by mail carriers and policemen for its comfort and durability, the original 101 model debuted in 1954 and went on to become one of the best selling shoes in the brand's history. The 9197 takes this reference and applies it to a 6-inch boot. The cushion crepe wedge sole and goodyear welt construction are retained, but the added ankle coverage makes for a unique take on a time-tested Red Wing classic.

This fall we ordered a lesser-known moc toe boot from Red Wing called the Super Sole. The tough, lightweight, rubber sole is oil resistant, comfortable and will stand up to anything. It still features the classic Red Wing moc toe stitching detail, and the it's available in Matte Black and Oro Russet.

"The issue titled 'The Evolution of a Color' is dedicated to the release of the Red Wing Shoes 4558 Oro-Russet 8" Moc Toe. The "Irish Setter" was introduced by Red Wing Shoes in 1949, designed as an outdoors hunting boot. It was originally manufactured with "Russet Red" leather, but the leather on the 8" boot has changed over time. This Nouvelle de Nîmes explores the evolution of the Oro-Russet leather and traces back its roots and rich history."
