Prada Fall-Winter '15

01

Images

01-02. Images by Filippo Mutani.

Words

Prada's latest collection features a very muted palette, focusing on black and navy primarily, with a handful of key camel-toned hits. Beautiful outwear in nylon and wool create a contemporary silhouette with more tailored and trim trousers. It's not a collection that screams loudly, letting the clean shapes and luxurious fabrics stay at the forefront.

Missoni presented their Fall-Winter '15 men's collection in Milan yesterday. Belted coats and slim tailoring were mixed with tunics, shawl-like scarves and signature knits, as plaid played a central role amidst a rich palette dominated by reds, blues and browns. Linklater: On Cinema and Time

01

Video

01. Created for Sight & Sound by Kogonada.

Words

"Linklater: On Cinema and Time is a moving visual essay, connecting temporally distinct moments in film history, and illustrating their continuities and differences. It looks at the ways in which film has changed, stayed the same, or elaborated upon its own stories over the course of the past century. The film is an exploration of the cinema of time and the history of cinema, matching an insightful interview with Linklater to illustrative moments in his own and other, classic films."

Jil Sander Fall-Winter '15

01

Images

01-02. Debut collection by Rodolfo Paglialunga.

Words

Tucking and turtlenecks seem to be in full effect, in the streets right now and for Fall-Winter '15. Jil Sander's latest show, and Rodolfo Paglialunga's first collection for the fashion house, provides an interesting mix of silhouettes, offering more volume than in recent seasons alongside a contemporary yet intelligent palette. There are plenty of long coats, a fine selection of knitwear, subdued pattern and a refreshing take on trousers throughout; injecting enough new life into proceedings to create some excitement, without straying too far from what the brand has become known for.

Before ever getting into clothing and fashion, music was the first thing I really immersed myself in. It was Michael Jackson and Boyz II Men to start with, but I quickly got into hip hop – a genre I continue to follow closely to this day. In the past few months I've begun to play with other people's music, inspired by new artists from all around the world working together and collaborating in new ways. This evolved into creating a handful of mixes, mostly for myself as an after hours activity. It's been both meditative and revitalizing, as I've enjoyed digging around the internet for new tracks, finding old ones to play alongside them, and discovering artists that I wouldn't have otherwise. Besides that, thinking up the names has become one of my favourite pieces of the puzzle.

New Balance M998: Bring Back Series

Words

The all grey New Balance releases are always the ones that catch my attention and Blue Button Shop has one of the most desirable colourways in one of the most sought after models still available. Options like this are the best of the best in my opinion, to be chosen any day over vibrant of-the-moment limited editions that are rolled out in steady streams. More all grey colourways, I say!

William Eggleston: From Black and White to Colour

01

Image

Words

William Eggleston has one of the more idiosyncratic and oft-copied oeuvres in photography and this collection, released by Steidl in late 2014, does a great job of compiling his fantastically composed mundane subject matter. It also highlights his transition from black and white to colour – something which gave the latter a real push in terms of respectability as art. One of Eggleston’s contemporaries, artist Ed Ruscha, may have said it best when he stated, “…when you see a picture he’s taken, you’re stepping into some jagged kind of world that seems like Eggleston World.”
