Ganyru Spring-Summer '15

01

Images

01-02. Photography by Durimel.

Words

The Ganyru Spring-Summer '15 offering has a much lighter feel than we've come to expect, featuring a variety of fabrics in tan, beige and sand. A mix of cotton and linens give the collection a very summery feel, while you can still find many of the military details referenced in past seasons.

Lose yourself in the sound of Corbin

01

Image

–01. Portrait by Jamie Hawkesworth.

Words

One of the more interesting musicians to come onto the R&B scene last year was undoubtably Corbin, otherwise known as Spooky Black. At age 16, the Minnesota native's music is surprisingly mature and deep, both in sound and content. i-D gives us a little more insight into the singer's thought process, style choices, and his future.

Digawel Stripe BL Shirt

01

Images

01. Made in Japan.
02. 100% Cotton.

Words

I don't normally give a simple striped shirt a second glance, but Digawel seem to produce one I want almost every spring. They always manage to make a classic item look less like something a businessman would wear and more like something Tracey Emin might paint in if she couldn't find her pants. She'd call them trousers though.

Inventory Store Closures

Words

It's with mixed emotions that we announce the closure of our shops in Vancouver and New York, as well as a narrowing of our online offering. It was a difficult decision, which we laboured over a lot last year, but we have chosen to move away from physical retail so that we can put all of our energy into the magazine and website. These aspects of our business are where we feel the true potential of Inventory lies, and because of this we want to give them the added attention they deserve. As a small team, spread over three countries, it’s often a challenge to achieve everything we want to, and our publication – in print and online – has now grown to a point where the time it requires of us is greater than ever.

It was almost five years ago that we opened our first shop in Vancouver, and nearly two since we expanded to our second location in New York, but in both instances it seems like much longer. We've grown as a retailer, a publication, and a brand in that time, and had the opportunity to meet and work with some wonderful people. We’re proud of the environments we created, the brands we brought together, and those we helped introduce to a wider audience.

Stepping away from retail isn't easy, but it's also liberating to be able to focus our efforts. We anticipate that the magazine and website will flourish, developing in new ways and at a rate that neither were able to in the past. It's certainly not the end; it's the beginning of a new chapter and we hope you'll be just as excited as we are to see what comes next.

Believe You Me at 247365 Manhattan

Info

247365 Manhattan

January 11 – February 15, 2015

Words

Believe You Me is a small but great show at 247365 Manhattan's compact sub-level LES location. While Ryan Trecartin is the artist that will no doubt be the most familiar to gallery goers, I was really pleased with the evolution of Henry Gunderson's work, which has developed into powerful but playful exercises in satire. The show closes on February 15th, so if it looks appealing, you might want to make plans to get over there before next Sunday.

Wtaps Heraldry L/S T-Shirt

01

Images

01. White.
02. Black.

Words

There is an undeniable strength within Wtaps' graphic language. The Heraldry L/S T-shirt is a prime example, available in white and black with their classic chest, back and sleeve hits. The brand has always done a great job with their prints, but in a market that has become quite saturated with over the top graphics, Wtaps stands out by sticking to their roots.

Cholo Picnic

01

Info

–01. Thursday night at 10pm EST.

Words

The internet is awash with podcasts, mixes and radio shows, but Cholo Picnic is one that stands above the rest. Broadcast on New York’s Know-Wave Radio every Thursday night at 10pm EST (and then catalogued on Soundcloud), the show is hosted by Arthur Soleimanpour and his friends Arto and Daniel Barragan. A well-liked man about town, working in a variety of creative fields, Soleimanpour has been involved in Know-Wave since the early days. The music chosen by him and his rotating ragtag crew of talented friends is a great mix of indie rock, folk, Brit-pop and classic rock – cool and diverse without being too obscure and weird. You can catch classics from The Stone Roses, Van Morrison or The Breeders, or more current artists like Caribou, Parquet Courts and The War on Drugs. Discover something new or be reminded of something old – it’s a good listen either way.
