The Japanese brand, Phigvel, has recently released a mini Spring-Summer’15 lookbook on their website, simply titled Seasonal Story. Shot on location by Taro Mizutani at the Gunma Safari Park in Japan, the small selection of looks are interspersed with closeups of some of the animal residents, making for a basic but insightful look into the brand's understated aesthetic.

Times Square by Max Neuhaus

Words

"Max Neuhaus’s Times Square is a rich harmonic sound texture emerging from the north end of the triangular pedestrian island located at Broadway between 45th and 46th Streets in New York City. Originally installed at this site from 1977 to 1992, the Times Square Street Business Improvement District (BID), and Christine Burgin collaborated with MTA Arts for Transit and Dia to reinstate the project in May of 2002." It now runs twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, emanating a beautiful soundscape in sharp contrast to the plastic, billboard mania that characterizes the rest of the area.

Champion Reverse Weave Crewneck Sweatshirts

Words

Seasonally appropriate sweatshirts are a smart item to have, with the sportswear staple having helped many of us through the colder months but probably in black or another dark colour deemed too drab for the coming spring. These versions, recently received by The Great Divide, are arguably one of the most classic, made from Champion’s Reverse Weave fabric but rendered more contemporary by a splash of colour perfectly suited to the season ahead.

Words

On May 1st and 2nd, The Judd Foundation will be staging a limited engagement presentation of dance works by Trisha Brown – friend and frequent collaborator of the highly regarded artist. A number of seminal dance pieces have been selected, representing a cross section of her career. These have been specially adapted for Judd’s former home and studio at 101 Spring Street to seamlessly introduce movement and sound into the space. The audience will be invited to view the scheduled performances throughout the building, allowing for those in attendance to take in the eclectic art collection and history of the only intact, single-use cast iron building left in Soho.

M.V.P. Malcolm X T-Shirt

Words

Supreme have once again set their sights on legendary activist Malcolm X for Spring-Summer '15, this time opting for a more 'Fight the Power' influenced range of graphics. I vastly preferred the previous renditions they produced in reference to his life, which is why I was immediately drawn to this piece by Japanese brand M.V.P., which offers a graphic I feel is more true to his legacy.

Adidas by Raf Simons Stan Smith Spring 2015

Words

I can't recall, in my relatively brief experience of the industry, a shoe being released to such acclaim only to be so overdone and over-worn in such a short period of time. It's truly a testament to the modern landscape and how quickly trends are moving today. That said, if any shoe can stand up to the hype and navigate the varying levels of appeal and acceptance, it's the Stan Smith. This spring Raf Simons has again re-coloured the shoe in solid tones, the pale pink and clear sky being the standouts for me personally.

Words

The spring collection from Arc'teryx Veilance focuses on innovative tailoring, taking their minimalist designs to increased heights. Through "planned articulation and forward sleeves" the pieces aim to provide extended movement and less obstruction, giving the wearer an efficient range of motion while still keeping them protected.
