I spent yesterday afternoon wandering up and down the Bowery and around the Lower East Side of Manhattan looking in and out of lighting stores. Along the way I walked past the James Fuentes galley, and through the window was immediately drawn to the show on display within. Richard Nonas was born in Brooklyn in 1936 and originally worked with Native Americans in the Sonoran Desert as an Anthropologist. His sculptural work, in both metal and wood, has long been admired for it's simplicity and familiarity and his new show – entitled Ridge – is his first in New York City in five years.

"Blum & Poe is very pleased to present a solo exhibition of Susumu Koshimizu, one of the principal figures of Mono-ha (School of Things), a group of Tokyo-based artists who were central to the Japanese avant-garde during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This is Koshimizu’s first solo exhibition with the gallery and his first solo presentation outside of Japan."
