Tembea School Bag

Words

Sometimes a standard tote bag is too limiting as far as how you can carry it. The School Bag from Tembea is very versatile and can be used as a tote with the one leather strap or you can use it as shoulder straps and wear the bag on your back. It is made in Japan and the body is 100 % cotton canvas that has been woven on a shuttle loom. A very simple bag that is flexible to whatever your carrying preference might be.

A Vontade Old Potter Jacket

01

Image

—01. Chambray cotton.

Words

A Vontade is a brand that I have really started to fall in love with, even though stockists seem to be entirely contained to their home country of Japan. This jacket called the Old Potter Jacket is a real standout, made from nepped chambray cotton with four buttons on the front. This jacket is a great take on a traditional work coat with a modern, attractive fit.

Words

This fall Patagonia will launch a 10-piece range inspired by some of the first pieces that founder, Yvon Chouinard, made when he was first starting out. The Legacy collection appears to have turned out quite nicely, featuring simple, straight forward pieces that are sure to perform just as well as they look.

Weekend Veiwing: A Study of Legs

01

Video

—01. A film in 11 parts.

Words

An old one but a good one, and if you haven't seen it well worth just over 20 minutes of your time. Shot for a month during lunch breaks between winter and spring 2009, the imagery was captured on the streets of Midtown Manhattan by Atsushi Nishijima (aka JIMA). The resulting film by Jim Helton, with sound by Dan Flosdorf, was then screened as part of a charity event for Japan on May 24th, 2011.

Fullcount Irish Linen Watch Caps

01

Image

—01. Available in four colours.

Words

I wear a lot of watch caps and am always looking for various weights and colours. I really like the idea of lighter weight linen watch caps, in brighter, less wintery colours. Fullcount seems to have nailed the not so heavy, not so dark coloured cap that someone, inclined as I am, can wear in the sunnier seasons.

The Bureau: Antrim Coast, Part 1

Words

Not your traditional online look book by any means– the clothes and model themselves more often than not are found in the middle or near distance; overwhelmed and camouflaged by their costal surroundings – Antrim Coast is a new, and well-executed editorial from the team at The Bureau, and can be viewed by following the link below.

Words

New and questionable habits have me spending longer amounts of time than usual looking for useful things at Muji, and – at the other end of the money-for-small-objects spectrum – browsing expensive, and miniature Carl Auböck pieces from the online retailer OEN. Each are interesting and useful in their own way, and figuring out whether I can live without something I can certainly live without, is proving trickier than simply closing the laptop and walking away.
