Words

These blankets are a handy addition to your living room, kept folded on the back of your couch or at least within arms reach for a warm woollen layer. Made to the same specifications in Minnesota since 1917, they are some of the most authentic 100% pure wool military blankets in production today.

Western Mountaineering Flash XR Jacket

01

Images

Words

The weather hurtling itself against the window probably has a large part to play in the appeal of this particular jacket right now, but considering that freezing cold temperatures and constant snow flurries are set to be a permanent fixture this winter, the more I stare at it, the warmer and more essential it looks. Clean lines, classic styling and goose down? Sign me up.

Eastman Leather Clothing US Navy WWII Seaman's Sweater

01

Images

01. Made in England.
02. Worsted wool.
03. Knitted cuff.

Words

I've been scouring eBay pretty regularly lately for all manner of WWII US Navy items, but there aren't proving to be very many serviceable examples of naval sweaters turning up in sizes that work. This might be one of those items that has to be acquired new, and one of the best examples out there for a period correct sweater is this one, made entirely in the UK, complete with a Naval Clothing Factory label.

Corning US Navy Handleless Watch Mugs

01

Images

—01. Made in Corning, NY.
—02. Hand warmers.

Words

I stumbled across these beautiful pieces of, both, glassware and naval history recently. Produced by Corning during WWII for the US Navy, this handleless mug was used as a hand warmer by sailors on watch duty. There are many fine examples turning up, at any given time, on eBay.
