Carl Auböck at OK

Words

At any given time there seem to be a few shops around the world holding a small cache of Carl Auböck-designed homewares. I always delight in stumbling upon new ones and seeing what they have compared to the others. The LA-based store, OK, has a few of the usual suspects on offer, as well as a few I haven’t really come across before. As the Austrian designer's recognition keeps growing year by year, there are bound to be more shops carrying his designs, but for now this stands as a fairly good selection.

C.E Hoop Collar Sweat

01. Made in Japan.
02. Embroidered sleeve graphic.

Words

Finding good things to say about this sweat would be easy, finding any fault in it would be hard. Minimal branding, beautiful cuffs and collar, and a typically good cut all help in making this one of the best crew necks I've seen in a while.

Words

Every Fall-Winter I wait with anticipation to see what wool pieces Frank Leder will be releasing. There is a beautiful simplicity inherent in all of his designs and the rich organic fabrics are always some of the most appealing on the market. These trousers, featuring interesting back pockets, are a standout from the current offering and would be easy combine with the season's prevailing palette.

Joe Bradley – Our Gang

Words

Our Gang, published by Karma, is something a little different from New York-based painter Joe Bradley, who has a habit of keeping people guessing. The 32-page book, released this year in an edition of 500, features colour photographs of children wearing paper animal masks – a simple yet haunting exercise that stands out next to his painted works.

Words

This stackable stool made by UK-based furniture designer Max Lamb for Discipline in Italy is spun from one piece of metal. The simple shape, ribbed hand grip, and manageable weight mean it's easy to move around, for use indoors and out. Available in polished copper or enamelled steel, the durable materials make it a piece of furniture that will last for years to come, growing in character along the way.

Words

This deck jacket from Needles is a real highlight in a very strong collection this season. The down quilting and modern, technical fabric are nice additions to a classic design which utilizes the same metal clip closures as some variations of the US Navy original.
