The month of January continues to be busy. Between buying, flying, line sheets and contractors, it's been an especially packed start to the new year. New York has reached some extreme temperatures this week as well, but it hasn't got in the way of us visiting some of our favorite showrooms and retailers around the city.

Berlin Snaps

It was the first trip to Berlin for the Inventory team. Fortunately we had a good city guide with us and were able to find a number of great neighbourhoods, shops and restaurants. We also stopped in at Bread & Butter to visit some of our friends and favorite brands from WP Lavori and Nigel Cabourn to Viberg and The Real McCoy's.

The weather has been crisp and dry in London, perfect for morning runs and visiting as many shops and restaurants as possible. It's always one of my favorite cities to be in and with short hops to Florence and Berlin in between, I really can't complain about the start to the year.

Tokyo Snaps: Part Two

It's been another couple of days in Tokyo and the schedule is picking up. We spent all of yesterday with BEAMS, meeting with Kenny of Beams Plus and a rare interview with Mr. Yo Shitara, the president of the legendary company. Besides a handful of interviews done, and more to come, we're trying to see as many shops as possible and go to as many restaurants with no English menus as we can.

The last couple of days have been spent all over New York, mid-town, uptown and even down below Canal. More meetings, more spaces and more clothing - its been a good trip overall, except for the insanely brutal heat in the city. I don't think I've ever been as uncomfortable wearing a t-shirt and shorts as yesterday. Fortunately Owen and I escape back to Vancouver tonight to some moderately nice spring weather.

The first day in New York was a long one. Owen and I arrived early Monday morning to meet Simon, with just enough time to drop our bags off, have a shower and hit the subway for a day full of showrooms and meetings. It was great to have a second look at Engineered Garments and Post Overalls, while having a stroll through Capsule and a first good viewing of Arc'teryx Veilance.

I spent just over a week in London at the end of June. In between buying trips to Florence and Paris, Simon and I had a few meetings, visited several retailers and plotted for future seasons. London has been a great supporter of our magazine and with a growing number of high quality retailers and partners I don't see that changing. Any time spent with Mr. Roe is productive so we made the most of our time in the city. Just last week I got a few rolls of film back from my F1 and was particularly happy with some of the black and white shots.
