Outside of platforms like Ebay, it’s often hard to buy collections of desirable publications in one place, at one time. While this set does not comprise all of the Foxfire books that have been released since the first volume in 1972, it does represent the vast majority – only missing three editions that were issued quite a bit later. The material for the books actually started as Foxfire magazine in 1966 at the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Georgia, chronicling Appalachian culture and eventually morphing into an anthology of articles originally written for it. These books are a great example of experiential education and are filled with interesting oral history, craft traditions, how-to pictorials and backwoods imagery.
