The North Face Purple Label continues its long run of collections packed full of perfectly executed essentials. This jacket certainly isn't reinventing the wheel, but it looks good, it will keep the rain off, and the slight fishtail adds a modified classic design cue where it's most welcome.

These lightweight, relaxed fitting pants lean towards the daring side, stripes normally reserved for the top half, but with sneakers and a T-shirt they'd make for a comfortable outfit that still looks urbane. The unlined 100% cotton also makes them a great alternative to infinitely more bland sweatpants.

Sometimes I find a backpack clashes with particular outfits. A blazer-style jacket and two shoulder straps, for instance, does not work for me. Nanamica presented one of their strongest collections to date this fall, and as always it was the outerwear that really stood out. This multi-tone military-inspired jacket is particularly good, its neat cut and durable fabric giving a classic piece a more contemporary feel.

While North Face's Japan-only Purple Label is consistently leagues above its North American counterpart in terms of design, it had never previously made a statement like it did this season. The Fall-Winter '13 collection struck a perfect balance between wearability and innovation, never more present than in this Reversible Versa Loft Jacket.
