Martino Gamper Salt and Pepper Spitz

Words

Martino Gamper obviously takes pride in reworking everyday items and imbuing them with a sense of humour, amounting to designs that while useful in your daily life, also give the refreshing feeling of breaking convention. Salt and pepper grinders certainly fit squarely into the everyday and ubiquitous categories, and are notably absent from a lot of designer’s offerings. Gamper, however, has produced versions in walnut and ash, making colour coordinating your salt and pepper receptacles very easy.

Words

Martino Gamper’s café chair-inspired design is perfectly basic. Stackable and stripped of any superfluous details, the Recto Verso is the ideal seating option for any home – used around a table or kept in the corner, one on top of another, ready for when they are needed.

Words

Dean Edmonds will be presenting a series of new pieces in an exhibition set to celebrate the opening of the new Momosan Shop on Wilton Way. With a private viewing on October 30th, the works in the show are split between two locations – J. Glinert and their new neighbours – and offer an experiment in steel and a homage to the string chair. Dean himself says that "using an all steel construction the string has become a structural element in turn reducing the structure itself." While the work may appear somewhat brutal on first viewing, Dean's aim is for the structure to "show the beauty and fragility that steel can possess much like the string of the chair that was at first the inspiration." The exhibition will be a great opportunity to view the London-based designer's work in the flesh, while the new Momosan Shop will offer a range of homewares, design objects, printed matter and accessories.
