While Russell Moccasin continue to be difficult to track down outside of Japan, Haven has recently released an interesting collaboration with the American footwear brand. Coming in two colours, they've made a unique version of the PH II Boot featuring a tonal mix of elk leather, suede and duck canvas to create a fine looking all-season boot.

I think the canvas is meant to reduce weight, and keep the top breathable. I have ordered from Russell and they are beyond accommodating, you could make up something similar and have full leather uppers.

How are Russell Mocs challenging to be found outside of Japan? They are a U.S. based company and one that is extremely wonderful and easy to deal with in customer interactions. You just have to take some initiative and sign up to receive a catalog or find a pair that you want to make more custom. Many of the versions that are available in Japan are so hilariously non-functional that it might be a good thing Japan is the only place you can get them.
