Words

Lately I've been trying to think up my perfect pair of shoes. Something I can wear nearly everyday, easily, without thinking about it. Something to go with denim, chinos or even shorts if the occasion should demand. I feel like I've been missing that old reliable friend in the shoe closet that I know I can count on everyday. For some its the desert boot, for some its a canvas sneaker, but I feel that I am currently missing that go-to shoe. I've been coming up with a few ideas that I feel fit my needs, which happen to be made by a certain American shoe maker. There are some details to still decide on, but hopefully it's not too far off.

All of them are great. Personally I'd go with the suede Long wings, but then I recently bought some milkshake suede Lodgers so I might be biased...

Great shoes but I'd personally be wary of a shorts/brogue combination. I could see it working in a way, but everything would have to be just right.
More and more these days I'm finding my tan Clarks Wallabees go with everything. They're versatile, durable, look more expensive than they are, and you don't have to worry about sudden downpours like with desert boots.

For the past 8-9 months, my everyday shoe has been a pair of washed plain brown shoes from Our Legacy (which was featured on your site, I believe).

It goes perfect with jeans, chinos, and yes, even shorts (both with and without socks). It is casual enough for the bar but a little more respectable than sneakers. Also, they were inexpensive enough for me to not worry about wearing them out.

Unfortunately for me, they are starting to look pretty beat up, making them slightly less versatile. I didn't like Our Legacy's S/S offers...hopefully they give me another perfect "workhorse" shoe in the fall.
