—01. Small cup, planter & bowl.

Words

This summer Inventory worked with New York based ceramic artist Shino Takeda to produce a small series of handmade items especially for our shop. Each piece is made with a different balance of red clay, ash, milky pink and turquoise. The cup, planter and bowl are limited to 10 pieces per style and each is numbered and signed by the artist.

You can find better ones for much less at most Japanese furniture stores in the bigger US cities. Another case of Vancouverism?

You can find more interresting comments on most blogs all over the web. Another case of useless trolling?

These are beautiful. I love japanese glazing - but there are lots of Vancouver ceramic artists that you guys should be supporting. I'm not bashing these by any means - they are phenomenal!! However, it is a bit off putting that an institution like Inventory that relies so heavily on its local community, would source ceramics from New York instead of the wealth of options available locally. Gailan Ngan is a perfect example!

These are beautiful and working with Shino Takeda must have been wonderful. I love that you work with artists that are meaningful to you. There are always opinions about everything - what I enjoy is that you guys actually do things that you are inspired to do...all action and no talk versus most that are all talk and no action. I also enjoy the fact that you introduce readers to interesting artists no matter where they're from. Another lovely collaboration that I'd like to enjoy in my own home. Thanks.

I think in the arts world you can't say something is better than others i think it depends on satisfaction.I like Shino's style.
