The Superior Labor Leather Pouch

01

Info

Words

I'm a sucker for a handy little zip pouch, something for pens, or film, or just to minimize the clutter around my desk, or bag. While I wouldn't say I'm exactly "big on leather" a nicely crafted piece goes a long way in my book, especially if it's something I can see myself using on a regular basis. The Superior Labor make some of the finest small goods around, and the leather pouch above is just one fine example to be taken from their wider, consistently impressive, collection.

This fall our collaborative effort with The Superior Labor continues. We were so pleased with our first run of melange socks that we decided to keep it going produce an on-going selection. This set offers a nice, bright feeling aesthetic which is a great way to transition from summer into the fall. The colors and mixed with a white thread, which looks even better on your feet. The made in Japan socks feel great, look nice and will be sure pair up well with a pair of white sneakers or some suede boots.

These woven jute espadrilles feature a lightweight construction and a rope sole. This current model has not changed significantly since the mid-19th century, making them a casual summer staple. The colours are simple and are accented by a single painted stripe across the front. A strong summer collaboration for these two brands.

Words

For our 11th Inventory Item we worked with Superior Labor to produce some of the finest melange socks around. When we visited them in 2009, I picked up three similar pairs and have worn and washed them countless times since. The quality and comfort is second to none and when we decided to make some of our own, choosing a collaborator was simple. Made from 90% Japanese cotton by craftsman who have been in the same line of work for 40 years, they are knitted on a low gauge machine that was made in Japan during the 60s and 70s. There are less than 100 of these machines currently in use - they are no longer produced as all the parts are handmade, making them too expensive by modern standards. The process of collaboration was one of the easiest and most enjoyable we've been involved in and we're really happy with the results. Our first batch comprises two colourways and they've been selling so well, a second set are now in the works.

We've got some great products coming out this year; some are the result of exciting new partnerships and others are courtesy of tried and trusted relationships. They'll be plenty more on this particular release in the next few days. For now I just wanted to let you know that we've made some socks with Superior Labor, they're on their way and we're honoured to be working with such an amazing company.
